Personal Notes |
Greetings fellow FrugalReaders!
My whole life I have pursued a passion for for reading, learning and relating with other people about the wonders of our lives and world. I have spent many years and countless dollars on traditional methods of obtaining books, learning from other people with shared interests, and trying to connect with them on more than a surface level.
My efforts were somewhat successful but rarely long-lasting or cost effective. There had to be a better way and I was determined to find it. In the Spring of 2004 I invited 4 of my best friends (Tom Lynch, Mike Sennett, Kent Christianson, Joe Marinelli) to rendezvous for a "Dream Team" weekend retreat at a Nashville, TN hotel. They agreed to travel from TX, WA and IL to join me despite knowing that they wouldn't see sunlight for nearly 48 hours.
We reminisced, brainstormed, debated, hypothesized and laughed. There may have been a tear or two in there somewhere but none of us will admit to that now. When the weekend was over we came up with a number of very exciting ideas. The notion of building an online community for readers was the most attractive for several reasons, especially since it would truly enrich the lives of so many people while at the same time align very well with my personal need to continuously learn and grow. In the coming months with the help of family, friends and business partners, FrugalReader.com was born.
I invite you to join us in building and growing the best venue to fulfill your passion for reading, sharing and connecting with other avid, frugal readers everywhere!
